Sunday Morning Selections#16…Spiritualized..”Take Your Time”

This version of “take your time” from Lazer Guided Melodies, my personal favorite Spirtualized LP and their 1st, is pretty damn good for the reason that it’s pretty rare to see Jason Pierce get so aggressive during his performances. He’s got a shit load of soul of course yet he’s usually very contained Englishman!
The shame here is that the original band he fired long ago was so damn good ,with these songs especially.
This is still great. I did have a video for “Shine A Light” but was denied embedding as of today.
If you don’t have this LP you’re missing out on a good thing!
Thanks Jason for shelving the choir for a while!
Enjoy!

    Wow.. this is great.

    Question:

where the hell have I been and how come I’d never heard of these guys..or guy, in the case of Jason P.?

Now I gotta go buy some more cd’s…damn it!

    (P.S. just to share some trivia… the voice seems…or reminds me a bit of a kinder,gentler Lou Reed..and /or a less frantic…Sky Saxton).

“J Spaceman” or jason was one of the 2 lead members of Spacemen 3 .
Formed in 1982 in the town of Rugby by Pete Kember (Sonic Boom) and Jason Pierce, Spacemen 3 were to become one of the most important bands of the eighties, with their offshoots destined to spread out and become equally as vital in the nineties.

Best Lp of Spacemen I believe would be “Purity Revolution Accuracy” or “The Perfect Perscription”
J went on to form Spiritualized and this is from their 1st lp which I highly reccomend!
Spacemen 3 and Spiritualized were a huge inspiration for Acetone along with alot more.
We eventually became good friends with J and toured with ‘em quite a bit.
Kinda silly but on the last LP J had written a song for Richie Lee who was the singer of Acetone who offed himself.
I’m not a big fan his latest stuff cuz he’s gotten a little removed from the raw element that made the previous stuff good.
J is a humungous cult figure in the music scene and has worked with Dr John
    amongst others.
    Get Lazer Guided Melodies.
    Amazing LP.
    thanx
