WTF Mr. Vice President?

This video was posted to the net a couple day ago and has been spreading rapidly. Rightly so…

In this interview from April 15th, 1994, Dick Cheney reveals the reasons why invading Baghdad and toppling Saddam Hussein wouldn’t be a great idea. He also stipulates that “not very many” American soldiers’ lives were worth losing to take out Saddam during the Gulf War. — from Youtube user grandtheftcountry

Notice how rehearsed his answers sounded? A lot have said Cheney was more than upset with H.W. Bush for not taking the Gulf War all the way to Baghdad, and that this second go around in Iraq was to finish the job. The easy explanation for this blatent aboutface, which they (the administration) would readily serve up, is “9/11 changed everything and we have to take threats seriously now” blah b blah blah blah.

But really, it’s about implementing geostrategic and geoeconomic policies in that part of the world (sorry, but creating democracy and spreading freedom does not ring a bell). The end game of establishing such policies I honestly am hard pressed to pin down right now. Who will really benefit from this war in the end?

What I do know: 9/11 gave them the excuse to do it, not the reason.

not soon enough. that’s 8 yrs this country will never to get back. i just think of all the money that’s been allocated abroad for this embarrassing foreign policy and wonder what could have been accomplished here if it was all spent domestically… improving healthcare, education, infrastructure, etc.

as far as i can discern, i see no real viable candidates anywhere in the field. PERIOD. hillary and obama can go suck an egg. edwards maybe, but he’s got his questionables as well. as for the republican side, i got a desert turtle more exciting than those guys.

but really, the ditch has been dug so low, there’s probably nowhere to go but up at this point. probably.

as long as cnn doesn’t cherry pick the questions too much…i can’t wait for the republican youtude debate. i’ve watched many of the question already and there are going to be some tough tough questions rudy and mit are going to have to answer. what made the Dem youtube debate great was that because of the formate, the candidates seemed to be more open to actually answer the questions. republicans love controlled environments….i hope cnn lets the goods questions through.

Even the townhall meetings are all scripted (both parties),its seems like it’s all drama until someone is finally elected, then the real deal comes out.
