Another year, another blurred weekend of loud music, sunburns, and undulating seas of humanity. Highlights included:
- Access to showers.
- Randomly meeting this guy, then later seeing his band (Les Savy Fav) play.
- Watching Prince on the jumbo screen from afar, just heroically exorcising his guitar Hendrix style. Like, wow.
- Witnessing a freak dust devil blow through the polo field, *video after the jump.
- Roger Waters bringing the 70s back and blowing minds with a theatrically grand, visually compelling show. You couldn’t not think it was awesome.
- And without a doubt the highlight of Coachella, and the only full set I was able to catch, was Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings throwing down the fucking gauntlet and successfully convincing droves white people they had rhythm. This white person included.

“Fear Builds Walls”

Dude! a retro festival?
any other highlights besides the ‘old guys’?
Was it worth it?
s
yeah i got to work right infront of where Akron/Family played, so that was fun. but beyond that it was pretty pedal to the metal working the whole time. i missed both Spiritualized and Cinematic Orchestra unfortunately, that’s just how it goes out there.
on sunday i was able to get my crew of workers stationed around the main stage, so they got to hear that lineup of music which was cool. My Morning Jacket were really great, M Ward came out and played a few songs with them. Austin TV, an instrumental band from mexico that i’d never heard of, they wowed me. Gogol Bordello were insane! very fun.
worth it? totally.
Word is they are offering some thousands of dollars and 4 lifetime Coachella passes for whoever finds that pig. I was wondering why they let it go when I saw it but apparently it was an accident!
There was a covert GOP operative there who cut that little piggy loose and killed it.Oink Oink!
oh no, it was no accident..
here’s a hint:
check out your FM dial @ 94.9..
yes,
it’s called:
KPIG..the Oinck station..Bay Area/SLO County etc.
strange co-incidence..or solid proof?
(bringing home the bacon indeed).
apart from that..great gathering..ridiculous lineup..excellent hydration work.
Peace thru Music…. Sound Truth Power.
