“Sky Blue Sky” trailer

If you have’nt heard the new Wilco LP yer in for a treat both musically and with the package. I suggest getting the full CD/DVD
special edition although with the plain CD you do get an extra 2hr live concert bonus audio.
Wilco had abandoned their ‘Big Staresque’ power pop since the LP “Being There” and has been doing simple good songs with some freeform elements and electronic goodies.(see the DVD from the clip below)
And now it seems they’ve abandoned concept and are being themselves in this stage of their career.”Just playing songs”
They’ve done a good job of mixing up each new album to be different and fresh. This one is bare bones, good writing, great playing and of course sounding as well. This is another transitional LP I believe and I’m curious where they go with the next!
“Sky Blue Sky” grows on you and the stand outs so far for me are “Impossible Germany” and “Either Way” I’m sure more will come. Right now these guys are havin’ fun! Keep it up!

Wilco - Cars Can’t Escape (I Am Trying To Break Your Heart)

As the top was a trailer, I felt a complete track was in order and this version from the DVD “I Am Trying To Break Your Heart” (a cronicle of battling egos in studio resulting in Jay Bennett’s firing) is an amazing song by Bennett that never made it to the LP “Yankee Hotel Foxtrot” . It’s sad because the chemistry between the two is amazing.
Bennett has gone on to make his own LP’s and I have yet to hear them. The current band seems to be more the “Jeff Tweedy experience” which at this stage, I enjoy. I’m betting Jay will be back guesting just to mix it up again.
Better than the Beatles! hee hee.
HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!

don’t worry, once we get the new theme set up and transfered over Transafixed Frequencies will resume with its lesson plan. i’ve been updating it steadily so there should be plenty o’ new (and old) tunes.

on to Wilco…nice. i like Tweedy’s attitude about the new album, just some guys getting together to play some songs, nothing more nothing less. they’ve taken some harsh words from many uppitdy critics bemoaning the straightforward approach. those cats are so flighty though, better to ditch their dead weight i say.

and while i certainly stand by ‘yankee foxtrot’ as my personal favorite/best of theirs, this new stuff is quite solid for what it is.

I know, what he says is sooo true especially after going trough so much drama. That’s one reason I like this new one so much besides them being just good songs.
I was a huge fan of Being There but Yankee Foxtrot I agree is so far their high point.
Have you seen the “Break…” DVD?
Bennett seems like a winey bitch and Tweedy is of course an egomaniac but come on, what do you expect. He is the leader/singer.
Happens so much that battle for the throne.
    I seen it up close.
    sucks.
Good to see them havin’ fun, which I hear on the LP as well.

    Beatle-esque…but better than?
    hmnn…

good stuff to be sure, not that invested in the personalities but have always loved where these guys go…particularly, for me:

the collaboration with Billy Bragg and the Guthrie family who turned over a thousand or so unfinished Woody Guthrie tunes and doodles to Billy, who in turned hooked up w/Wilco and voila…Mermaid Avenue vols.#1 and 2 were born.

Goes to show what a little genius can do..
