A rarity these days are thoughtful, well-crafted sci-fi flicks. Something that’s not too convoluted in its technology or concept, and willing to delve headlong into the existential queries which surely awake humankind as time presses forward.

Sunshine, from director Danny Boyle (Trainspotting, 28 Days Later, Millions) is such a film. Unfortunately though, this movie seems to be unnoticeably passing by the general public right now. It didn’t get that wide a release in theaters and the promotional push was pretty minimal before it came out, whereas the shit-on-a-stick that was Transformers…

And that’s a damn shame. Because it’s really a great film, one that will hold up over time. Plus the imagery is beyond fantastic.
