Last night saw one of the most amazing programs in the history of Bill Moyers Journal. Really, one of most amazing programs Moyers has done, period, in all his years on television. His guest for the hour was Andrew J. Bacevich, a West Point graduate, retired colonel with 23 years in the Army, and author of several books, including The Limits Of Power: The End Of American Exceptionalism, just released this week. Here’s a distillation of their conversation:

Talking Points Memo:

Many of you are familiar with Andrew J. Bacevich, the retired Army Colonel and International Relations expert, who’s become one of the most insightful critics of contemporary American militarism. By most historical standards Bacevich is a conservative. But his criticism of America’s post-Cold War military posture, particularly the Iraq War, have made him an ally of many on the left. And in a tragic turn of events his son, First Lieutentant Andrew J. Bacevich, was killed last year in Iraq — a war his father had been making the case against for half a decade.

    thanks for posting this..

there are always those who “speak truth to power”
sometimes very faint voices and more often than not, defamed and persecuted by the power structure they shine the light on.

on the issues raised, few have this mans credibility or credentials..

    question is..who really cares?
    and if you do..now what?

or is this just another footnote to the ongoing ,and curious history of Human stupidity?
