The Wasilla Project

A friend of mine was part of a small group of filmmakers you flew on a shoe-string budget up to Wasilla, Alaska. Their aim was to put together a series of short documentaries covering Sarah Palin’s governance as both the mayor of Wasilla and as governor of the state. The above clip deals with her background as a social conservative, and how she has used her religious affiliation to advance her political career.
Now I will say, Palin has every right to attend whatever church she wants to. She could be a regular Betty Butterfield and try all of them, I don’t care. What I take issue with is the spill-over effect that all too often occurs with conservative Christian politicians in America. When you seek to push, or in some cases even legislate, your own very personal religious beliefs on the wider populace, that’s when you lose me.
This is the second of what will be an installment of four videos about the Governor. Click over to the Wasilla Project for more information.

This clip really reinforced for me just how chilling the possibilities are with Palin in the mix. Bush has always represented the same extreme values and we all know how well things are going for us now as a direct result of his administration’s ridiculous decisions, while he and they believe that they are serving God. An over ten-trillion dollar debt (not to mention several wars, the tremendous loss of human life)…I didn’t know how to measure a number like that until I learned recently that it would take 1500 to 3000 years for someone to count to a trillion.

I agree. Coming next (later this week) another great piece which will address her “fiscal conservatism” or lack thereof. I’ll let you know when it’s up and ready to watch!
